From the ground up
The ground that we stand on offers warmth when it’s cold and coolness when it’s hot. Itho’s heat pumps reach deep into the ground, extract heat and further raise its temperature before introducing it into homes with underfloor heating, ready to heat both space and water. In the summer, the heat exchanger, a closed plastic pipe extending to a depth of 90 to 150 metres, supplies coolness from the ground to the dwelling. Due to its high efficiency (COP>5) the heating of space and water can be achieved for 80% from heat that is extracted from the soil and for only 20% from electricity. During the night the heat pump warms the domestic hot water storage tank. There are several models in the Itho range of ground source heat pumps, with thermal power outputs ranging from 3.5kW to 7.5kW.
